Ask yourself, what’s the benefit?

Sometimes I have to do something, but I don’t really want to; it’s a tedious tasks, or unpleasant or simply boring.

The best thing I can come up with to make me do it (or not do it) is to ask what’s the benefit of that task? Is there one? It it clear? Maybe there’s no benefit at all and I can just not do it and do something else instead. Maybe the benefit is not clear and just looks like another imposed task (self imposed or not) and that’s just something to avoid, but many time, if not always, there’s a direct benefit from doing it (or a cost for not doing it). Being conscious of what the benefit is, might help to get it done. And if there’s no benefit, simply don’t do it. To to whom asked you to do it and try to see if there’s something else you can do instead.
